Today's Scripture

"Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few." (Ecclesiastes 5:2 NIV)

Thoughts for Today

"Prayer is more than an endless monologue of words. My prayers may begin with nonstop talking, but if I grow silent and wait, God reveals many things to my heart."

Prayer is communing with the living God, whose love is extravagant. He is the only one who is able to equip us with all we need to overcome our selfish, sinful nature. We never outgrow our need for prayer. We never outgrow our need to stay silent and let God speak to our hearts . . . fill us with his peace . . . and give us direction for our life.

Consider this …

Have you ever been with someone who talks nonstop? You have thoughts you'd like to share . . . but you never get a chance! Frustrating, isn't it?

How often do we do that with God? We go through our lists of thank yous and requests, say amen, and leave our prayer closet without listening to what God wants to say to us. We've done all the talking and he has done all the listening. What a loss for us when we don't take time to listen!

God tells us to be still . . . and know he is God.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10 NIV)

Be still. Know he is God and he is able. Know he is love. Know he is your creator, your deliverer, your Lord, your Savior. Know he is all-powerful. Know he cares. Know he is there with you right now.

Shhh . . . listen!

Prayer

Father, forgive me for doing all the talking in my prayer closet. Teach me to listen. In Jesus' name . . .

Lessons Learned: Moving from Homosexuality to Holiness by Tammy Webb-Witholt. This group study offers biblical tools, along with an abundance of hope, to anyone struggling with homosexuality. It is also a great group for anyone desiring a deeper walk with God. Note: This curriculum was written especially for small groups, and we encourage people to use it that way. However, it can also be used effectively as a personal study.

We hope these devotions are a blessing to you and to others in your life. We are happy to provide them for you at no cost, but thought you might want to consider a donation to help our ministry with the expense involved. You can safely donate through our website. Thank you!
