Today's Scripture
"But concerning brotherly love [for all other Christians], you have no need to have anyone write you, for you yourselves have been [personally] taught by God to love one another." 1 Thessalonians 4:9 AMP
Thoughts for Today
God calls us to love one another. He has taught each of us this truth. His Word tells us many ways to show love - "one-another" scriptures. Today let's look at just a few of those (all taken from the New Living Translation).
Serve one another in love. (Galatians 5:13)
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. (Ephesians 4:2)
Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)
So encourage each other and build each other up. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people. (1 Thessalonians 5:15)
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (Hebrews 10:24)
Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. (James 5:9)
Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. (Galatians 5:26)
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. (Romans 12:10)
Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory. (Romans 15:7)
Share each other’s burdens. (Galatians 6:2)
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. (James 5:16)
Consider this
Prayerfully consider these scriptures and any other "one-another" scriptures that come to your mind. Ask God to show you areas he wants you to work on. And then write down at last one step you will take this week to show love to someone - his kind of love.
Prayer
Father, thank you for showing me areas in my life where I need to grow in love. Help me take the needed steps. In Jesus' name . . .
These thoughts were drawn from …
One Nation Under God: Toward Race Reconciliation by Donna Saunders, Ph.D. and Jean Leak, MS, RN. This study discusses barriers between people and shows how to make Christ visible through love in action. This guide also offers the way to strengthen and bond relationships. Note: This curriculum was written especially for small groups, and we encourage people to use it that way. However, it can also be used effectively as a personal study for individuals or couples.
We hope these devotions are a blessing to you and to others in your life. We are happy to provide them for you at no cost, but thought you might want to consider a donation to help our ministry with the expense involved. You can safely donate through our website. Thank you!
