Today's Scripture
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. … Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:22-23,25 NLT
Thoughts for Today
This week we've looked at a number of techniques that will help us turn marital conflict into a positive experience. As we grow in our anger management skills, we will know when to keep quiet about trivial matters and when to argue for the sake of things important to the relationship. However, learning how to handle marital storms is more than just learning techniques and skills. Solutions to anger in marriage cannot be reduced to a list of how-to's. As we commit our lives fully to Jesus, he will help us grow on the inside. More and more, our lives will produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit as described in today's scripture instead of the fruit of our selfish desires.
As we learn to do things God's way, we will learn to resolve marital conflict in ways that will strengthen our marriage and help the relationship become all that God intended it to be.
Prayer
Lord, I thank you for my spouse. I pray that you will help me be the partner in this marriage that you want me to be. I know I can't do it on my own. Help me grow on the inside, and more and more each day live in the Spirit and produce the fruit of love. In Jesus' name …

Anger: Our Master or Our Servant by Larry Heath. This study offers a clear explanation of anger, what causes it, and how to recognize when you are sinning with anger. It not only ministers to church members, but serves as a powerful evangelistic tool. Note: This curriculum was written especially for small groups and we encourage people to use it that way. However, it can also be used effectively as a personal study for individuals or couples.
